PROFILE OF THE HER EXCELLENCY AMBASSADOR ZAHRA MU’AZU OMAR
AMBASSADOR ZAHRA MU’AZU OMAR WAS BORN TO MALLAM SULEIMAN ALIYU, THE LATE EMIR OF GWANARA AND MALAMA AMINA SULEIMAN ON 25TH OF MAY 1959. AT THE AGE OF 8, SHE WAS ENROLLED INTO THE LOCAL EDUCATION AUTHORITY PRIMARY SCHOOL, GWANARA, KWARA STATE. SHE WAS THE FIRST FEMALE TO PROCEED TO SECONDARY SCHOOL, BORGU SECONDARY SCHOOL FROM GWANARA IN 1973. SHE HAD HER TERTIARY EDUCATION AT KWARA STATE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, ILORIN FROM 1978-1981, AHMADU BELLO UNIVERSITY FROM 1988-1990. SHE PROCEEDED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN IN 2002 WHERE SHE OBTAINED HER MASTERS IN EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT, AND MASTERS IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION IN THE YEARS 2005 AND 2010 RESPECTIVELY.
AMBASSADOR ZAHRA STARTED HER CAREER AS A CLASSROOM TEACHER IN 1982 BUT LATER CONVERTED TO THE PRESTIGIOUS ADMINISTRATIVE CADRE IN 1993 FROM WHERE SHE ROSE THROUGH THE RANKS TO BECOME A PERMANENT SECRETARY IN THE KWARA STATE CIVIL SERVICE IN 2011 AND HEAD OF SERVICE (HOS) IN 2015, A POSITION SHE HELD TILL RETIREMENT IN 2017. IN JUNE 2020, SHE WAS NOMINATED BY PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI AS AN AMBASSADOR-DESIGNATE OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA TO THE REPUBLIC OF MALAWI AND SHE PRESENTED HER LETTERS OF CREDENCE AS RESIDENT AMBASSADOR TO PRESIDENT LAZARUS MCCARTHY CHAKWERA ON THE 1ST OF JULY 2021.
